MAGELLAN AWARDED INNOVATIVE NEW LUNAR PROGRAM BY GOVERNMENT OF CANADA
Magellan Aerospace has been awarded a contract with the Government of Canada to design and manufacture a lunar resource exploration package set to be delivered to the Moon.
The Multispectral Imager with Navigational Exploration Relay and Autonomous Lander (MINERAL) mission will consist of a CubeSat lunar orbiter partnered with a micro penetrator.
Magellan’s Winnipeg division received a contract for a total value of up to $6.9M from the Canadian Space Agency in October 2025 for the delivery of the tested flight hardware.
Leveraging Magellan’s strong working relationship with the University of Manitoba (UM) this program will also help directly train the next generation of Canadian space engineers as well as inspire the community on the wonders of space exploration. UM will be providing the CubeSat bus and developing the Active Lunar Positioning System payload.
MINERAL is a state-of-the-art mission that will help position Canada at the leading edge of the lunar resource economy.
