MAGELLAN AEROSPACE RECOGNIZED FOR COMMITMENT TO CLIMATE AT 2023 PARIS AIR SHOW

On Tuesday, 20 June 2023 at the Paris Air Show, Magellan attended “The Southern Region: aerial land of performance and decarbonization” event at the Pavilion Région Sud. The event was hosted by Mr. Renaud Muselier, President of the South Region and was attended by Mr. Kleynhoff, President of the Economic Development Commission and Rising Sud, regional elected officials and partners, and the companies of the South regional delegation.

Mr. Haydn Martin, Vice President, Business Development, Marketing and Contracts attended the event on behalf of Magellan’s Provence facility and accepted an award for regional actors involved in environmental performance and decarbonization programs funded by the South.

In 2019, Magellan Aerospace established Magellan Aerospace Provence, a division that currently employs 85 people. This division has become an integral part of Magellan’s organization, highlighting the company’s commitment to fostering regional collaborations and expanding our global reach.

For more than 15 years, Magellan has been devoted to an environmental approach, with the core objective of monitoring and mitigating resource consumption and elements of climate change. The company has worked diligently towards decarbonization and reducing water consumption while also striving to minimize waste generation. The efforts of Magellan have been successful, and the company has more than halved its greenhouse gas emissions, and significantly reduced both water consumption and waste volumes by about 25%.

In alignment with Magellan’s environmental initiatives and recognizing the importance of safeguarding our planet, the Provence division joined the company’s initiative to have all manufacturing sites certified to the ISO 14001 standard.  The Provence site committed to this approach in 2021 and was invited by Airbus Helicopters in 2022 to join the regional environmental performance cluster, headed by the renowned SAFE cluster.

Inspired by this collaborative effort, the Provence team achieved significant milestones and successfully reduced energy consumption by 25% and water consumption by a remarkable one-third. In addition, the Provence site recently obtained the prestigious ISO 14001 environmental certification.

Mr. Martin expressed his sincere thanks to the Provence team for this considerable effort. At the conclusion of the event, he thanked Mr. Muselier saying, “I extend my heartfelt appreciation to you, Mr. President, for extending this gracious invitation to us. Your support and recognition of our endeavors serve as a tremendous source of encouragement. We remain dedicated to forging meaningful partnerships and pushing the boundaries of innovation, with the environment at the heart of our policy.”
