December 12, 2005

Toronto, Ontario – September 12, 2005 – Magellan Aerospace is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Messier-Dowty to provide various assemblies for the nose and main landing gear of the new B787 aircraft. Magellan will have responsibility under the contract to develop and manufacture the nose landing gear drag brace assembly and steering assembly, and the nose and main landing gear torsion link assemblies. Magellan currently manufactures landing gear components and assemblies for a number of civil and military aircraft.
The award, valued at $(US) 90 million over the initial contract period, follows a joint design and engineering phase to achieve optimum performance and cost solutions. The Magellan team worked sideby-side with Messier-Dowty and Boeing to support design-for-manufacture and cost reduction activities over the past five months.
“At Magellan, we are delighted to have been selected by Messier-Dowty for key activity on Boeing’s aircraft of the future, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner,” said Jim Butyniec, executive vice president and COO of Magellan Aerospace. “We have great respect for Messier-Dowty, and have enjoyed the professionalism shown in the preceding phases of this program. This aircraft is the most advanced civil airliner to be designed to date, and will represent very interesting technical challenges in many areas. We are confident that we are up to the task of playing a positive role in the Messier-Dowty team.” Magellan is also pursuing opportunities on the 787’s airframe, engines, and on-board equipment, all currently in the competition stage. “This program has strategic significance for Magellan Aerospace because it ushers in great potential with a new customer relationship on a new aircraft”, he added. “We combined our engineering and management resources in the U.K., Canada and the U.S. to win this program, and will deliver the products from our facilities in Canada and the United States.” About the Boeing 787 Dreamliner:
